The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Abdullah Batili, said, on Monday, that the meeting of the military and security leaders in Tripoli yesterday, Sunday, was a confidence-building process.

The UN envoy, in a tweet on his Twitter account, praised the patriotic spirit shown by the participants in the meeting, hoping that they would set an example for others seeking solutions to the political crisis in Libya.

The members of the Joint Military Committee (5 + 5) and the leaders of the security and military units in the western, eastern and southern regions of Libya, renewed in their meeting yesterday in Tripoli their commitment to renouncing fighting and violence in all its forms on all Libyan soil.

In a statement, they stressed the need for the dialogue to be Libyan-Libyan and within the Libyan territories, their rejection of foreign interference in Libyan affairs, the continuation of the elections endeavor, and the provision of a suitable environment to advance the political process and the holding of free and fair elections during the year 2023.

The members of the Joint Military Committee (5 + 5) and the leaders of the security and military units in western, eastern and southern Libya agreed on the need to find a unified government for all Libyan state institutions, and to continue working towards unifying military institutions, completing national reconciliation efforts, reparations, and resolving the problems of the displaced and those affected by wars. .
