Sulaymaniyah: The Azm Alliance has announced a pivotal agreement with Arab political parties and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, leading to the release of Arab detainees from Kirkuk held in Sulaymaniyah prisons. This agreement is part of a broader initiative to form the Kirkuk government. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Azzam Al-Hamdani, the spokesman for the Azm Alliance in Kirkuk, revealed that a key condition in the agreement to establish the Kirkuk government was the release of Arab detainees and those who disappeared in the Kurdistan Regional Government's prisons, particularly in the Sulaymaniyah Governorate. The agreement underscores the commitment of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan to address these concerns, with steps being taken to facilitate the release of the detainees. Al-Hamdani further elaborated that the agreement had faced delays and was initially expected to be implemented three months post-government formation. He highlighted the pressing demands from Arabs in Kirkuk for the re lease and clarification of the status of the disappeared individuals, whose fate remains uncertain. While the Kurdistan Regional Government denies holding these individuals, there is a call for their transfer to Kirkuk to ensure they are processed within the framework of Iraqi law. Al-Hamdani assured that those undergoing judicial trials are accounted for within the Iraqi legal system and will be managed accordingly. This initiative reflects ongoing efforts to address the concerns of Arab communities in Kirkuk and the broader region, emphasizing the importance of legal transparency and regional cooperation.
