Tripoli: Acting Interior Minister Imad Al-Tarabulsi met with the Maltese Ambassador to Libya, Franklin Aquilina, and the Maltese Consul in Tripoli, Sean Chircop Troisi, to discuss ways to enhance joint security cooperation between Libya and Malta. Key topics included training, capacity building, and combating illegal immigration.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting highlighted the importance of developing mechanisms for security coordination and exchanging expertise between the two countries. This coordination aims to improve the efficiency of security agencies and support training and qualification programs based on approved professional standards, thereby enhancing readiness to face security challenges.
The discussions also addressed illegal immigration as a shared challenge, stressing the need for intensified cooperation in securing borders and combating migrant smuggling and human trafficking networks. Both parties emphasized the importance of strengthening joint efforts to ensure security and stability in the region.
Al-Tarabulsi confirmed the Interior Ministry’s dedication to expanding partnership areas with Malta, focusing on supporting technical and training cooperation. This collaboration seeks to build an effective security institution capable of fulfilling its duties efficiently.
