The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, directed to discuss the establishment of rehabilitation centers for drug abusers in all governorates.
Al-Sudani, while chairing a meeting dedicated to discussing the efforts of the competent agencies, in the field of drug control and limiting their abuse and spread, directed to tighten scrutiny and procedures at the border crossings, to prevent any breach in this field, as well as stressing the ministries of education to carry out awareness-raising roles about the dangers of these toxins, and their subversive effects in society.
A statement by his media office stated that Al-Sudani chaired today, Monday, a meeting dedicated to discussing the efforts of the competent authorities in the field of combating drugs and limiting their abuse and spread.
He added that the meeting dealt with means of enhancing the technical and executive capabilities of the competent authorities in combating drugs, confronting the networks that promote and trade with them, and unite efforts between them and the concerned departments within the various agencies.
He explained that ways of coordinating the agencies concerned with the fight against drugs were discussed with the judicial authority in order to fully implement the deterrent laws in the field of drugs, their trade, abuse and transfer, as well as activating the media aspects of warning, definition and community education against drugs.
The Prime Minister directed, according to the statement, to discuss the establishment of rehabilitation centers for drug abusers in all governorates, and directed towards tightening scrutiny and procedures at the border crossings, to prevent any breach in this field, as well as emphasizing the ministries of education to carry out awareness-raising roles about the dangers of these toxins, and their destructive effects on society.
Al-Sudani pointed out the necessity of continuing meetings among officials and representatives of agencies concerned with drug control, which is a challenge that the state must face with all its capabilities.
