Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed today, Wednesday, the necessity of strengthening consultation between Egypt and Turkey on the Libyan file, in a way that helps hold presidential and legislative elections and unifies the country’s military establishment.
Al-Sisi said in a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is currently visiting Egypt, ‘Our success in achieving security and political stability in Libya will represent a model to be emulated, as the countries of the region are the most capable of understanding its complexities and ways to resolve existing disputes there.’
According to the Middle East News Agency, Al-Sisi welcomed the current calm in the Eastern Mediterranean region, looking forward to building on it to resolve the existing disputes between the riparian countries in the region so that they can all cooperate to achieve the maximum benefit from the natural resources available there.
The Egyptian President announced that his country
is “opening a new page with Turkey in a way that enriches bilateral relations,” stressing the endeavor to raise trade exchange with it to $15 billion in the coming years.
During discussions with his Turkish counterpart, Sisi expressed common interest in cooperation in Africa and working to support its development efforts and achieve stability and prosperity.
