Al-Sayeh and Iraqi Ambassador Discuss Electoral Cooperation

Tripoli: Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Imad Al-Sayeh, engaged in discussions with the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Libya, Ahmed Nima Al-Sahhaf, focusing on enhancing cooperation between the Commission and Iraqi institutions involved in electoral affairs. The conversation revolved around exchanging expertise in managing electoral processes and developing the capabilities of electoral cadres.

According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting took place at the Commission’s headquarters in Tripoli. Discussions underscored the significance of exchanging visits and experiences between Libya and Iraq to better organize elections and encourage citizen participation in the democratic process.

During the meeting, Ambassador Al-Sahhaf expressed appreciation for the Commission’s efforts in promoting democracy in Libya and highlighted Iraq’s interest in enhancing cooperation in areas of training and technical support. This, he noted, would contribute to the success of upcoming electoral processes in both countries.

Chairman Al-Sayeh emphasized the necessity of building international partnerships to advance the electoral process. He pointed out the Commission’s intention to leverage international experiences to uphold the principles of integrity and transparency in elections.

The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing on the importance of continuous communication to enhance cooperation in technical and logistical support, aiming to fulfill the aspirations of both nations in strengthening their democratic processes.
