Al-Namroush Meets EU Ambassador Nicola Orlando in Tripoli

Tripoli: The Acting Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army, Lieutenant General Salah al-Din al-Namroush, met today in Tripoli with the Head of the European Union Delegation to Libya, Ambassador Nicola Orlando.



According to Libyan News Agency, Ambassador Orlando expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to engage in dialogue with Lieutenant General al-Namroush. He emphasized the importance of the ongoing discussions between the European Union and the Libyan military establishment. In a tweet on his official Twitter account, Orlando conveyed his deepest condolences, on behalf of the European Union, for the tragic incident that resulted in the death of Chief of Staff Field Marshal Mohammed Al-Haddad and several accompanying officers. He extended his sympathy to the families of the victims and the Libyan military establishment.



Orlando noted that the meeting focused on current and future efforts to enhance the partnership between the European Union and Libya. The discussions aimed at strengthening the capabilities of the Libyan Armed Forces while ensuring full compliance with human rights and international standards.



The conversation also involved plans to support efforts in reunifying the military establishment, improving land border management, and increasing cooperation with the EU’s Operation Irini. These initiatives are intended to bolster security and stability at both national and regional levels.
