Tripoli: President of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al-Mnifi, engaged in a comprehensive review of Libya’s political, security, and economic developments with Hanna Tetteh, the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Libya, and Stephanie Khoury, the Deputy Special Representative for Political Affairs, on Tuesday.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting, held in Tripoli, featured a detailed briefing by the Special Envoy on her domestic and international visits. These efforts are aimed at reinforcing the United Nations Mission in Libya and intensifying initiatives to achieve a comprehensive political settlement that would pave the way for elections.
The President’s media office indicated that discussions also covered the economic and financial landscape of the nation, highlighting the significance of maintaining transparency and disclosure in financial reporting. Such practices are seen as crucial for building trust between citizens and public entities, promoting institutional integration, ensuring effective oversight of national spending, and creating job opportunities to rectify existing deficiencies.
Additionally, the meeting addressed measures to implement Security Council resolutions and recommendations from its Sanctions Committee and UN bodies. These measures focus on promoting human rights and prosecuting individuals involved in organized crime, smuggling, human trafficking, and human rights violations.
