Tripoli: The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al-Menfi, met with Felicia Adjei, the Special Envoy of the President of Ghana and a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Ghanaian Parliament, in Tripoli today. The discussions centered on expanding investment opportunities, addressing migration issues, and resuming the Joint Committee meetings between the two nations.
According to Libyan News Agency, Adjei conveyed the greetings and appreciation of Ghana's President, John Dramani Mahama, to Al-Menfi. She expressed Ghana's pride in the strong historical and fraternal ties between the nations and emphasized Accra's commitment to elevating bilateral cooperation to levels that serve mutual interests. Adjei affirmed Ghana's support for a Libyan-led political process carried out through constitutional institutions with the participation of all Libyans.
The meeting saw an exchange of views on various issues of common interest and explored ways to enhance coordination and bilateral cooperation across multiple fields. This is indicative of the shared political will to deepen African partnerships, consolidate frameworks for continental cooperation, and strengthen the roles of both countries through their membership in the African Union Assembly.
Discussions also included enhancing coordination in combating illegal immigration, expanding investment opportunities, and strengthening partnerships in the oil and health sectors. Both parties emphasized the importance of continued political consultation and coordination, along with intensified communication between relevant institutions, to reinforce bilateral relations. This includes resuming the work of the Libyan-Ghanaian Joint Higher Committee and activating existing agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries. Ghana reiterated its support for Libya's return to a leading role in the Sahel-Saharan States Community by resuming the Secretariat's operations from its permanent headquarters in Tripoli.
