Algiers- GNA Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Najla Al Mangoush discussed with Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Yael Lambert ways to deepen bilateral relations between Libya and the United States.
This came during a meeting held today in Algiers on the sidelines of the work of the Arab Summit at its 31st session. The Foreign Ministry explained that the meeting reviewed the political developments in Libya, and efforts of the Government of National Unity to stabilize the country and support the efforts of a political solution in Libya, to reach elections on a constitutional basis and fair electoral laws.
Al-Mangoush pointed to the government’s steps towards restoring Libya’s role within the Arab system represented by the Arab League. For her part, “Yael Lambert” stressed her country’s position rejecting the military solution in Libya and return to division and war, and expressed the support of the United States for holding of elections in Libya in stable conditions.
