Al-Manfi Rejects Evacuation of Gaza Strip Residents at Arab Summit

Cairo: In a powerful address at the Arab League’s extraordinary summit, the Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al-Manfi, emphasized Libya’s firm opposition to any plans to evacuate the Gaza Strip of its residents and force them to flee.

According to Libyan News Agency, Al-Manfi highlighted that the displacement of Palestinians under the pretense of “reconstruction” contradicts religious and human values, while also violating principles of international legitimacy. His speech underscored the necessity for a unified Arab stance on Palestinian and broader Arab issues, advocating for a position that firmly opposes the removal or forced flight of Palestinian people from their homeland.

Al-Manfi voiced Libya’s support for Egypt and Qatar’s efforts in facilitating negotiations which have led to a cessation of hostilities in Gaza. He urged for these initiatives to persist, aiming for progression into the next phase of the agreement. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of leveraging Arab willpower to sustain the halt of Israeli aggression on Gaza and emphasized the need to initiate the reconstruction of the war-torn region.

Al-Manfi concluded by stating the reconstruction responsibilities should rest with Arab nations, with the backing of the international community, to ensure the rehabilitation of the Gaza Strip following the destruction it has suffered.
