Tripoli: President of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al-Menfi, met today, Sunday, at the Council’s headquarters in Tripoli, with the Special Envoy of the Palestinian President, Counselor Atef Odeh, in the presence of the Palestinian Ambassador to Libya, Mohammed Rahal.
According to Libyan News Agency, during the meeting, the Palestinian envoy conveyed the greetings of President Mahmoud Abbas to Al-Menfi, expressing his deep gratitude and appreciation for Libya’s steadfast and supportive positions on the Palestinian cause. The envoy acknowledged Libya’s unwavering commitment to upholding the rights of the Palestinian people in various regional and international forums.
Al-Menfi reiterated Libya’s steadfast and supportive position on the struggle of the Palestinian people and their legitimate right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state. He also affirmed his strong condemnation of the crimes of killing, destruction, and forced displacement to which the Palestinian people are being subjected, especially in the Gaza Strip. Furthermore, he emphasized the need for an immediate cessation of the aggression and the opening of crossings to urgent humanitarian aid to save civilians and alleviate their suffering.
The media office indicated that this meeting comes within the framework of mutual affirmation of the depth of fraternal relations between the Libyan and Palestinian peoples. It also focused on the unification of efforts to support the just rights of the Palestinian people amid the difficult humanitarian and political circumstances they are experiencing.
