Al-Koni participates in workshop on state monopoly on weapons and its use in accordance with the law.

Tripoli, Vice President of the Presidential Council Musa Al-Koni on Sunday participated in a workshop on “State monopoly on weapons and their use in accordance with the law” organized by the Joint Operations Center in Greater Tripoli, in the presence of the center’s commander, Major General Hussein Ramadan, and a number of military and security leaders.

A representative of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya also attended the workshop, which discussed solutions for collecting weapons under the rule of law, obstructive factors, and factors helping to collect them.

It also highlighted support of the army, police and security agencies, and their role in maintaining security, working to find a mechanism for issuing laws regulating the collection of weapons, and stopping its entry into Libyan territory outside the legality, returning it to the state, and using it in accordance with the law.

The vice president of the Presidential Council stressed that the problem of the spread of weapons outside the law, constitutes a major burden on the Libyan state, and the countries of the region which requires working to find a solution in order to collect weapons, return them to the State, and then use them in accordance with the law, and to cover the entire Libyan territory.
