Al-Koni Advocates for Better Salaries for Health Sector Workers During Visit to Tajoura Cardiac Center

Tajoura:Member of the Presidential Council, Moussa Al-Koni, visited the National Cardiac Center in Tajoura to assess the current medical services and workflow.

According to Libyan News Agency, Al-Koni emphasized the necessity of supporting medical and paramedical staff by providing adequate resources, which he considers essential for enhancing healthcare services and preventing the migration of medical professionals abroad.

He highlighted the need for improving the financial status and salaries of health sector workers across various specialties to match their responsibilities and promote professional stability. Al-Koni stressed that allocating adequate resources and budgets, especially for cardiac care, is vital for reducing waiting lists and ensuring the smooth provision of specialized medical services in Libya.

Al-Koni commended the efforts of the medical, paramedical, and technical staff, acknowledging their humanitarian mission closely tied to citizens' lives. He underlined the importance of offering an appropriate working environment and necessary resources to enable healthcare workers to perform their duties effectively.

The medical team at the center provided an overview of their key activities this year, including diagnostic and therapeutic catheterization procedures and open-heart surgeries for both children and adults. They also shared plans to eliminate waiting lists by year-end, contingent on the availability of necessary resources and budgets.

During his visit, Al-Koni observed cardiac catheterization procedures involving children and adults, with participation from a volunteer Turkish medical team. He praised the efforts made and the value of specialized expertise to support the localization of medical treatment within Libya.
