Tripoli: The Minister of Economy and Trade in the Government of National Unity, Mohammed Al-Hawij, has announced the activation of an integrated digital system aimed at controlling the movement of goods, overseeing commercial activities, and regulating import priorities. This significant development was disclosed during a meeting held with key officials from various economic and trade bodies.

According to Libyan News Agency, the system has been designed to serve as a pivotal tool for governance, oversight, and database connectivity. During the meeting, which included undersecretaries of the ministry and heads of several economic authorities, Al-Hawij detailed that the system will facilitate monitoring the movement of goods and commercial activities. It will also assist in regulating import priorities based on the needs identified by the Ministry of Economy, thereby addressing and reducing the imbalances that have previously led to illicit speculative practices.

Al-Hawij stressed the Ministry of Economy and Trade's commitment to exercising its powers strictly in line with the law. He assured that there would be no leniency towards speculators, price manipulators, or those violating regulations. Legal measures, including the withdrawal of licenses and the imposition of trade restrictions, will be enforced against individuals and entities found in violation of the applicable laws and regulations.

The Minister highlighted that the next phase will witness a transformative shift towards a digital and regulated market management system. This system will focus on proactive oversight, rather than reactive measures, and will depend on the integration of roles among relevant authorities. The ultimate goal is to enhance commercial discipline, protect the national economy, and ensure market stability and the well-being of citizens.
