Baghdad – Head of the National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, received today the British Ambassador to Baghdad, Stephen Hitchen, in his office, and they discussed developments in the political scene in Iraq and the region, and the inter-relations between Baghdad and London.
During the meeting, Al-Hakim stressed the need to develop bilateral relations in a way that serves the interests of both countries.
He touched on the developments of events in the region, especially the events in the Gaza Strip, and said that the world is required to put pressure to stop the war so that everyone can bring in aid and the necessities of life. He also called for an end to double standards in human rights issues, freedom of expression, and the protection of civilians.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining stability in Iraq and working to transform it into permanent stability, explaining that events and experiences have proven the region’s need for Iraqi stability.
