Tripoli, Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid al-Dabiba, has underlined that Libya was able to restore its natural position at regional, African and Maghreb level.
At the inauguration of the scientific forum organized by the African Union’s Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC), Monady in Tripoli, Al-Dabaiba welcomed participants from various African countries, including officials and experts of the African Union and Arab Maghreb Union.
He noted that a few days ago the 9th conference of Arab women was held with wide Arab participation, as well as the 31st conference of directors and deans of higher institutes of Arab region judiciary, as well as other series of meetings at Arab and African ministerial levels and at the level of experts, businessmen and industry through scientific seminars and exhibitions hosted by the capital, Tripoli, in the past year and the beginning of this year.
Al-Dabaiba said that your distinguished African presence today in Tripoli, in the most prominent African participation in more than 10 years, and Libya’s hosting of the work of this council is an affirmation of the African depth of our country, which the Libyans have not abandoned and their positions in support of stability and development have not changed.
He added that the forum discusses the issue of societal support for electoral tracks and institution building, and it is in line with the call of the government of national unity to benefit from the experiences of successful countries that were able to transform from violence of tyranny to peace and the peaceful transfer of power in many African and international countries.
Head of the government pointed out that the forum will contribute to the exchange of experiences and knowledge about the role of civil society in the phase of democratic transition and would enhance the experience of the Libyan civil society, which began during the past two years to make a clear difference at the public scene.
