Tripoli: Speaker of the House of Representatives, Agila Saleh, has expressed his approval for the successful municipal elections held across several Libyan municipalities. In a statement issued yesterday, Saleh highlighted the elections as a demonstration of the citizens' free will and responsibility in selecting their local representatives within a robust legal and constitutional framework. According to Libyan News Agency, Saleh praised the High National Elections Commission for its diligent efforts in organizing, supervising, and executing the elections. He noted the Commission's professional commitment and adherence to stringent technical and legal standards, which ensured the integrity and transparency of the electoral process. This commitment, he stated, was vital to completing the elections according to the established frameworks. He emphasized that their efforts provided a secure environment, allowing citizens to exercise their voting rights freely and confidently. He further stressed that the success of these municipal elections is essential in promoting administrative decentralization, strengthening local governance, and empowering municipalities to fulfill their service and development responsibilities. This aligns with the Libyan people's aspirations for stability, institutional development, and the establishment of the rule of law.
