After Iraq.. Iran Calls For An Emergency Meeting Of The Organization Of Islamic Cooperation To Respond To The Burning Of The Holy Quran

The Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, proposed holding an emergency meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to study the response to the insult to the Holy Qur’an.

This came during a phone call made by the Iranian minister with the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, to discuss the issue of the recent insult to the Holy Quran in Sweden.

Amir Abdullahian expressed his deep regret over the recent reprehensible and provocative behavior in Sweden, and strongly condemned and denounced it.

Amir Abdullahian suggested holding an emergency meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation at the first possible opportunity, in conjunction with the meeting of foreign ministers of non-aligned countries in Baku, in order to study the response to this disgraceful act.

For his part, the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation said that Iran has an important role and position in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Hussein Ibrahim Taha thanked the Iranian Foreign Minister, for his interest in the issue of condemning what happened in Sweden, where he said that an urgent and emergency meeting is on the agenda in Jeddah, to deal with this issue at the level of ambassadors and permanent representatives.

Regarding Iran’s proposal to hold an emergency meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement meeting in Baku next week, he said that he would raise this issue to the member states.
