Tripoli: Deputy Commander of the US Africa Command (AFRICOM), Lt. Gen. John Brennan, and Charg© d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy, Jeremy Berndt, held a significant meeting in Tripoli with key Libyan defense officials. They met with Deputy Defense Minister Abdulsalam Zubi, Chief of Staff Gen. Mohamed Haddad, and Director of Military Intelligence Mahmoud Hamza to discuss important defense collaboration.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting centered on exploring opportunities to enhance the professional development of Libyan security forces across all regions. This includes potential joint training initiatives and U.S. support aimed at unifying Libya’s military institutions.
The U.S. Embassy, in a tweet, emphasized its commitment to continued engagement with defense leaders from both western and eastern Libya. The embassy highlighted that unity and long-term stability in Libya would pave the way for increased prosperity for the Libyan population and their international partners.
