Tripoli: Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General for Political Affairs, Stephanie Koury, urged the High Council of State (HCS) and the House of Representatives (HoR) to meet the expectations of the Libyan people, accelerate their efforts to implement the roadmap, and complete the first two milestones without further delay.
According to Libyan News Agency, this call to action was made during her meeting with a delegation from HCS as part of efforts to support the UNSMIL-facilitated political roadmap. The mission highlighted the critical need for the HCS and the HOR to take forward and finalize the initial milestones of the roadmap.
The focus of the discussion was on the reconstitution of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC) and the amendment of the legal and constitutional framework necessary for holding national elections. The meeting underscored the urgency of addressing these elements to fulfill the roadmap’s objectives.
