Abu salim: The Abu Salim municipal guard has officially prohibited the display of New Year's celebrations within its municipal boundaries. This directive was issued to shop owners, public markets, and retail outlets, banning the sale, display, or distribution of products and symbols related to New Year or Christmas.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Abu Salim branch of the Municipal Guard explained that this measure aligns with Islamic Sharia provisions, which recognize only Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as religious holidays for Muslims. The notice emphasized that promoting or supporting occasions that contradict the beliefs and religious values of the Muslim community is neither religiously nor legally permissible.

The notice further detailed that the prohibition encompasses clothing, hats, gifts, decorations, sweets, and any promotional or advertising materials associated with New Year's celebrations. The Municipal Guard cited its legal powers to monitor commercial activities, address violations, and prevent the display or sale of items that contravene public order, morals, and religious values as the basis for this decision.

The Municipal Guard warned that violators would face strict legal consequences, including administrative enforcement, confiscation of offending materials, and potential closure of establishments. The branch stressed its commitment to preserving Islamic identity and the values of Libyan society within Abu Salim municipality.

The statement concluded with a call for cooperation and adherence to the provisions of this directive, reaffirming the Municipal Guard's dedication to fulfilling its duties within the legal framework.
