London: Twenty-one countries, including Britain, France, Canada, Australia, and Japan, have jointly condemned Israel’s approval of a significant settlement project in the West Bank known as “E1.” A collective statement from these nations and the European Commission has called on Israel to reverse its decision.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the joint statement, signed by the Foreign Ministers of these countries, criticized the Israeli decision as “unacceptable and a flagrant violation of international law.” The statement highlighted concerns that the settlement project compromises the possibility of achieving a two-state solution and hinders access to Al-Quds. It further warned that such expansion could escalate violence and threaten regional security.
The statement concluded with an urgent appeal for Israel to “immediately rescind this decision,” while expressing “deep concern over the dangerous escalation that threatens the peace process.”
