Zawiya: The Zawiya Court of Appeal has delivered a ruling convicting several officials from the Al-Raqdalin Municipality for their involvement in the illegal seizure of 1.5 million dinars of public money.
According to Libyan News Agency, the court found the manager of the Republic Bank branch in the Raqdalin Municipality, a financial services control employee at the municipality, and an authorized individual managing a current account at the bank branch guilty of forging a bank check. This forgery facilitated the embezzlement of 1.5 million dinars intended for the salaries of public employees.
The Attorney General’s Office had initiated a public lawsuit against these individuals, highlighting their roles in the fraudulent activities. The Criminal Court sentenced the convicts to five years imprisonment, mandated the repayment of the embezzled 1.5 million dinars, and imposed a fine of 3.7 million dinars.
