Tripoli: The Judicial Bodies Association has asserted that video clips released by the Public Prosecution Office have conclusively dispelled any doubts regarding the circumstances surrounding the death of Abdel Moneim Al-Mariami.
According to Libyan News Agency, the Libyan Association of Judicial Bodies Members stated that the footage, made public by the Attorney General’s Office, clarifies that Al-Mariami’s tragic death resulted from him throwing himself from the stairs, leading to his fall. He was subsequently taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The statement highlighted that the video evidence clearly depicts Al-Mariami’s fall from the second-floor stairs, with no involvement or criminal action from the security personnel who were present with him. This visual proof has been pivotal in clarifying the circumstances, eliminating any possibility of external foul play.
The association reiterated the importance of constitutional rights, particularly the freedom of opinion and expression. It emphasized that these rights are protected by legislation and that no citizen should be denied the ability to express opinions, identify problems, or offer constructive criticism to aid in reforming the country’s systems.
Furthermore, the association urged the public and media to prioritize accuracy and truthfulness in news reporting. It stressed the need to avoid the spread of rumors, false accusations, and any attempt to shirk responsibilities, as these actions can cause harm and misunderstandings.
