UNSMIL Head Hanna Tetteh Visits Leptis Magna to Review Cultural Heritage Efforts

Leptis magna: The head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Hanna Tetteh, paid an official visit to the ancient city of Leptis Magna. During her visit, she toured several archaeological and historical sites and reviewed the state of Libyan cultural heritage and the efforts being made to preserve it.

According to Libyan News Agency, the head of the mission emphasized the importance of joint cooperation in protecting and preserving cultural heritage, combating the illicit trafficking of antiquities, and strengthening the institutional role in safeguarding Libya's cultural heritage.

The head of the UN mission expressed her appreciation for the national efforts being made to protect cultural heritage, stressing that preserving this human legacy is a fundamental pillar for strengthening national identity and supporting the path to stability and development in Libya. She also emphasized the United Nations' commitment to continuing its support for Libya.
