Tripoli: The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has announced the commencement of nationwide consultations aimed at involving the youth in the country’s political process. The initiative begins with a series of meetings in four cities across Libya.
According to Libyan News Agency, UNSMIL emphasized that youth make up 38% of Libya’s population, as reported by the National Bureau of Statistics. This demographic significance underscores the importance of including young people in shaping the nation’s political landscape.
Additionally, UNSMIL has unveiled plans for a comprehensive program that seeks to engage 500 young men and women across Libya in the months ahead. This initiative is part of a broader effort to foster youth participation in the political process.
Furthermore, the mission plans to conduct dedicated meetings with youth representatives, both virtually and in person. These consultations aim to gather input on the recommendations of the Advisory Committee, which focuses on guiding Libya towards elections and the unification of its institutions.
