Tripoli: The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health engaged in a significant meeting with representatives from the United Nations and the World Health Organization to explore avenues for supporting and developing Libya’s health sector. The discussions took place at the Ministry headquarters, where Dr. Mohamed Al-Ghouj, the Acting Minister of Health, welcomed Ulrika Richardson, the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General and UN Resident Coordinator in Libya, alongside Dr. Ahmed Zouiten, WHO Representative and Head of Mission in Libya.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting focused on several key issues of mutual interest, emphasizing international cooperation with UN programs and organizations, especially the World Health Organization, to enhance the health sector in Libya. The discussions aimed at improving collaboration to support programs for developing and training medical personnel and enhancing health and treatment services.
Furthermore, the dialogue included ways to support rapid response initiatives and primary healthcare services, with an emphasis on meeting the highest quality standards in medical and preventive services to address health needs across the nation. Both parties highlighted the significance of maintaining the strategic partnership and strengthening cooperation, which is expected to positively influence the quality and efficiency of healthcare services available to Libyan citizens.
