Tripoli: The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has welcomed the successful completion of the voting process in 16 municipalities across eastern, central, and southern Libya, highlighting its appreciation for the commitment shown by voters to the democratic process.
According to Libyan News Agency, the mission praised the initial voter turnout, which reached 68%, as reported by the High National Elections Commission (HNEC). The mission expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the elections, noting the absence of any security incidents on Election Day.
Furthermore, UNSMIL urged all parties involved to respect the integrity of the electoral process. It emphasized the importance of allowing the HNEC to carry out the vote count and publish preliminary results transparently.
