New york: At the Security Council session, UN Special Representative to Libya, Hanna Tetteh, emphasized the worsening economic situation in Libya, highlighting issues such as unaccounted public spending and increasing poverty levels.

According to Libyan News Agency, Tetteh briefed the UN Security Council on Wednesday about the urgent need to address Libya's economic challenges. She underscored the importance of implementing the recommendations from the structured dialogue, urging the Security Council to support Libya by adhering to the UN Panel of Experts' expectations, particularly in monitoring oil revenue flows.

The UN envoy welcomed the recent unified budget agreement between the House of Representatives and the High Council of State, which was signed approximately two weeks ago. She pointed to the weakening of Libya's governance capacity through unified institutions and called for improved management and transparency of oil revenues, along with close scrutiny of the National Oil Corporation's financial allocations.

Tetteh also mentioned ongoing discussions with various political parties in Libya to reach an agreement that could resolve the current deadlock, based on recommendations from the Advisory Committee.
