U.S. Reaffirms Support for Libyan Election Efforts During Misrata Meeting

Misrata: U.S. Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, emphasized America's commitment to supporting Libya's journey towards unity, prosperity, and lasting peace. During his meeting with Misrata's municipal leaders, Boulos discussed potential U.S. assistance to help Libya achieve consensus on a strategy for successful national elections.

According to Libyan News Agency, Boulos expressed his satisfaction in meeting Misrata's municipal leaders, acknowledging their aspirations for Libya's future. He addressed the importance of supporting efforts to enhance the electoral process in the country. In a tweet, Boulos noted, "I was pleased to meet with Misrata's municipal leaders for the first time today and to hear their aspirations for Libya's future and address supporting efforts to strengthen the electoral process in the country."

Boulos highlighted the tradition of idea exchange in Misrata, remarking, "In Misrata, debating ideas is a part of the social fabric, and these elected leaders know firsthand what holding successful municipal elections in Libya requires." He reiterated the discussions centered on full U.S. support for Libyan efforts to reach a consensus on the path to successful elections, extending this support to the national level as well.
