Turkey to Open Consulate in Benghazi Amid Strengthening Ties with Libya.

Benghazi: Turkish Ambassador to Libya, Guven Begich, announced plans to open a Turkish consulate in Benghazi in the coming days. The decision is part of efforts to resume Turkish flights to the city, pending the completion of necessary procedures and standards.

According to Libyan News Agency, the announcement was made during Ambassador Begich’s visit to the Benghazi Municipality, where he met with Al-Saqr Bujwari, Chairman of the Municipality’s Executive Council, along with other municipality members. Begich emphasized Turkey’s interest in activating the joint economic and commercial movement, highlighting the significance of bilateral cooperation for mutual benefit.

The discussions during the visit covered various topics of mutual interest, such as encouraging visits by businessmen, enhancing economic collaborations, and leveraging Turkish expertise in infrastructure and reconstruction. The talks also included discussions on restoring historical buildings and developing human capabilities within the munic
ipality.

Al-Saqr Bujwari, Chairman of the Executive Council, underscored the importance of fruitful cooperation between the private sectors and municipalities of both nations. He welcomed the opening of the Turkish consulate in Benghazi as a significant step towards achieving these goals.
