Tunis: Tunisia renewed its commitment to supporting the efforts of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) in assisting the political process and achieving stability in this brotherly country, based on a vision that leads to a lasting and comprehensive solution, agreed upon by all parties, under UN auspices. This announcement was made during a reception by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, for the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Head of the Strategic Review Team of UNSMIL, who is currently visiting Tunisia.
According to Libyan News Agency, the Tunisian Foreign Ministry reported that Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti emphasized the importance of the role played by the Strategic Review Team in assessing the mandate of the UN mission. He highlighted the team’s efforts in monitoring the mission’s response to political, security, and humanitarian developments in Libya, aiming to propose necessary recommendations to enhance its effectiveness on the ground. Nafti reaffirmed Tunisia’s ongoing readiness to support diplomatic efforts promoting dialogue and reconciliation among Libyan parties, striving for a lasting political solution that respects Libya’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, free from foreign interference.
The Tunisian Foreign Ministry also conveyed Kroslak’s commendation of Tunisia’s unwavering support for the UN mission in Libya. She expressed gratitude towards Tunisia for its cooperation and support in the UN’s efforts to facilitate a consensual and comprehensive political settlement in Libya, considering all relevant dimensions. Kroslak praised Tunisia’s balanced and constructive positions on the situation in Libya and its crucial role in fostering dialogue, consensus, and reconciliation among Libyan factions.
