Tripoli to Host Second Session of Permanent Libyan Economic Forum in November

Tripoli:The capital city of Tripoli is set to host the second session of the Permanent Libyan Economic Forum on November 11 and 12. This event will gather local and international officials, experts, and economic figures to deliberate on the Libyan economy's current state, its development prospects, and explore investment opportunities, partnerships, digital transformation, and financing.

According to Libyan News Agency, Dr. Samir Ali Al-Tarman, Director General of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture, highlighted that this session marks a shift from the local focus of its first session to an international level. This transition is expected to expand the economic dialogue and leverage international expertise to address challenges and explore development opportunities.

The forum, established by National Unity Government Resolution No. (576) of 2022, includes board members from the Cabinet, the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture, the Central Bank of Libya, and various ministries and institutions related to economic and investment affairs. The General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture is organizing this second session, following the first session by the National Council for Economic and Social Development. The forum aims to provide a platform for dialogue and exchange of views on national strategies to support the Libyan economy and enhance its adaptability to regional and international changes.

The forum's program comprises five main themes, including geopolitical changes, national visions and strategies, investment opportunities, digital transformation, and finance, banking, and insurance. Participants will include international experts and figures such as the Chairman of the Malaysian Advisory Council, Hassan bin Muath, former Jordanian Minister of Labor Dr. Maan Qatamin, Omani writer and political analyst Ali bin Masoud Al-Mashani, and former French Ambassador to Libya, François Pouillet.

Dr. Al-Tarman emphasized the forum's role in strengthening partnerships between public institutions and the private sector, expanding cooperation with international institutions, and discussing economic and investment policies.
