Tripoli, The United Nations Support Mission in Libya called today, Saturday, on the eve of the next session of the House of Representatives, to adopt the necessary amendments to the legal framework for elections, including those proposed by the High National Elections Commission.

The mission said in a statement, that this would “concurrently hold free, fair, inclusive and credible parliamentary and presidential elections on December 24 in line with the Libyan political roadmap, Security Council resolutions 2570 (2021) and 2571 (2021), and the outcomes of the Second Berlin Conference for Libya. .

The UN mission stressed that only the comprehensive legal framework will pave the way for a comprehensive and credible electoral process, stressing that respect for the principle of simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections on December 24, 2021 “is necessary to preserve the integrity of the electoral process and enhance its credibility, and to guarantee the right and aspirations of the Libyan people. in electing his representative and his leadership in a democratic manner, as well as accepting the results of the elections.”
