Tripoli- The Anti-Corruption Prosecution in the South Tripoli Court of First Instance has ordered the imprisonment of those accused of embezzling sums of money intended for families displaced from areas south of the capital, Tripoli.

The Anti-Corruption Prosecution in the South Tripoli Court of First Instance has begun an investigation into the seizure of the sums of money spent for the purpose of facing the effects resulting from the displacement of citizens living south of Tripoli to the administrative area of the municipality of Awata in 2019 and beyond.

A series of measures aimed at collecting evidence resulted in proving the reality of the seizure of a sum of money of five hundred and forty-nine thousand and eight hundred dinars. by the former mayor; the financial controller supervising the accounts; As well as returning part of the sums of money obtained from the crimes of embezzling public money and forging official and customary documents.

The investigator concluded a set of precautionary measures; In particular, the order was to hold the accused in pretrial detention pending the case.
