Tripoli: Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General Hanna Tetteh reaffirmed UNSMIL's support for efforts to reduce tensions and end fighting in towns along the coastal road, and underscored the importance of ensuring the necessary political and institutional support for the effective implementation of security arrangements along the western coast.
According to Libyan News Agency, Tetteh emphasized that the implementation of security arrangements along the western coast aims to protect civilians and maintain stability, welcoming the recent meeting between the two Chiefs of General Staff held in Sirte last month.
She encouraged continued engagement, with a focus on taking practical steps that can translate the momentum generated by the meeting into concrete progress towards the reunification of Libya's military institutions.
