Tetteh Engages with British Minister on Libya’s Political Landscape

London: The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Hanna Tetteh, held a meeting in London with Hamish Falconer, the British Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, along with several senior officials from the British Foreign Office. This gathering is a part of Tetteh’s ongoing diplomatic engagements with international partners to bolster the political process in Libya.

According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting focused on the current political and security developments in Libya and the region. It also covered the upcoming briefing by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to the UN Security Council, set for August 21. Discussions included anticipated steps for launching a new roadmap devised by the mission to reinforce the Libyan political process.

During the meeting, Tetteh conveyed her appreciation for the United Kingdom’s support for the mission’s endeavors, acknowledging London’s role in enhancing stability and facilitating political solutions in Libya.

For his part, British Minister Hamish Falconer reaffirmed his country’s unwavering support for Tetteh and the United Nations Mission’s efforts. He emphasized the need for continued close coordination between both parties, particularly as the UN roadmap’s implementation begins, aiming at fostering stability and promoting peaceful solutions to enable Libya’s progress towards a comprehensive and sustainable political process.
