Tetteh Affirms UN Mission’s Commitment to Support Libyan Stability Through Elections

Tripoli: The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Hanna Tetteh, has reaffirmed the commitment of the UN mission to collaborate with various Libyan actors to facilitate stability in the region through the process of elections. This assurance was highlighted during her recent meeting with the Second Deputy Speaker of the High Council of State, Omar Bushah. According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting is part of a series of consultations led by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) with all Libyan parties following the signing of the mini-meeting agreement. The discussions during this meeting were centered around the UN-facilitated roadmap and current political, security, and economic developments within Libya. The discussions also highlighted, according to the mission, the significance of inclusive participation and the need for collective efforts to push forward the political process. These efforts aim to create suitable conditions for holding national elections, which are seen as a pivotal step towards achieving stability in Libya.
