Syrian Foreign Minister Engages Egyptian Counterpart Over Aleppo and Idlib Developments.

Cairo: Syrian Foreign Minister Bassam Sabbagh discussed with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdel Aati the latest developments in northern Syria, particularly focusing on the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib. The discussion took place during a phone call on Friday, where Sabbagh provided Abdel Aati with an explanation and assessment of the recent and successive developments in these regions. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry issued a statement indicating that Abdel Aati expressed concern regarding the situation's trajectory. He emphasized Egypt's supportive stance towards the Syrian state and its national institutions, highlighting the importance of Syria's role in achieving stability, combating terrorism, and maintaining the state's sovereignty, stability, independence, and territorial integrity. The conversation between the two ministers comes in the wake of an announcement by the Syrian army. Earlier, the army reported that armed terrorist organizations had initiated a si gnificant attack on safe villages and towns in the southern countryside of Aleppo and Idlib since Wednesday. In response, the Syrian Ministry of Defense stated that the Syrian armed forces had retaliated against the terrorist attacks in these provinces, causing substantial losses to the militants in terms of equipment and personnel.
