Tripoli: Algeria’s Sonatrach has confirmed the completion of its exploration commitments in Libya, marked by the drilling of two additional wells. The announcement was made during an expanded technical meeting hosted by the Exploration Department of Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC). This meeting is part of the NOC’s annual engagements with foreign companies participating in the region.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting in Tripoli reviewed Sonatrach’s activities in 2025, including updates on the re-entry of the A1-96/2 exploration well. The company also outlined its plans to drill four appraisal wells in Contract Areas 95/1 and 96/1. The successful drilling of the two additional wells signifies Sonatrach’s commitment to meeting its exploration obligations in Libya.
The meeting was attended by several key figures, including the Director of the NOC’s Exploration Department, Sonatrach’s General Manager and his deputy, as well as numerous specialists and technicians from both parties. Additionally, representatives from Indian companies participated in the discussions via videoconference, highlighting the international cooperation involved in these exploration efforts.
