Tripoli: The Libyan passport saw a relative improvement in its ranking by 2026, according to the Henley Passport Index, climbing to 93rd place globally after ranking 100th in 2025. This marks a notable shift, moving the Libyan passport out of the top ten weakest passports in the world. It is the best ranking it has achieved since 2014, a year marked by political divisions and security turmoil in the country.

According to Libyan News Agency, the index data indicates that Libyan citizens can now enter 39 international destinations out of approximately 227 worldwide without a prior visa. The Henley Passport Index serves as the standard ranking of passports globally, based on the number of destinations accessible without a prior visa.

The index relies on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), recognized as the world's largest and most accurate database of travel information. This data is further enhanced by research conducted by Henley and Partners, the London-based firm responsible for publishing the index.
