Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, marked International Day of Democracy, on September 15, which comes under the theme (Empowering the Next Generation).
In a statement, the chairman said that the National Action Charter and the Constitution were established based on democracy, expressing pride in the civilized images of democracy provided by the legislative branch in Bahrain, which stems from parliamentary elections and the keenness to exercise civil and political rights in the electoral process.
He noted that there is considerable awareness of democracy principles among various groups and segments of society, which motivates them to fulfill their national responsibilities and to participate positively in decision-making processes.
Al Saleh affirmed that this contributed to boosting the success of the comprehensive development process of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, hailing the government’s efforts led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in consolidating the values of democracy and the principles of human rights.
He expressed his pride in the positive awareness of Bahraini youth of their role in protecting democracy and practicing it within the framework of constitutional and national institutions.
