Al-qubbah: Speaker of the House of Representatives, Counselor Aguila Saleh, has emphasized that Libya’s unity and sovereignty are not open for negotiation. He identified national reconciliation as the fundamental pillar for restoring security and stability in the country.
According to Libyan News Agency, Saleh made these remarks during a meeting with a delegation of notables, sheikhs, and elders from the western region, held in the city of Al-Qubbah. Several members of the House of Representatives were also present at the gathering.
In his address, Saleh urged for Libyans to reach an understanding free from foreign interference, stating, “Libyans are brothers, and if they were given the freedom to reach an understanding, Libya’s problem would have ended in two days.” He rejected exclusion and marginalization, asserting that the people should decide the country’s future through the ballot box.
Furthermore, Saleh highlighted the necessity of forming a new, neutral government to oversee upcoming elections. Th
is government would be responsible for safeguarding public funds and fostering a democratic environment that ensures inclusive participation.
He argued that resolving the Libyan crisis depends on returning trust to the people through free and fair elections. Saleh insisted that all parties must respect the will of the people rather than resorting to force or foreign interference.
The Speaker commended the visit from the Western Region delegation, viewing it as a powerful national message that underscores unity among Libyans from the east, west, and south. He called for intensified efforts to ensure the success of the national reconciliation process and the building of a unified state founded on justice and equality.
