Benghazi: The Greek Consulate in Benghazi was reopened yesterday, Sunday, in the presence of the Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Foreign Affairs Committee, Youssef Al-Aqouri, and the Greek Foreign Minister, George Gerapetritis.
According to Libyan News Agency, the Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Foreign Affairs Committee, accompanied by the Greek Foreign Minister and other guests, toured the consulate and reviewed the facilities and services it will provide following its reopening.
On the sidelines of the reopening, the Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Foreign Affairs Committee held a meeting with the Greek Foreign Minister, during which they emphasized the deep historical ties between the two countries.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Foreign Affairs Committee reiterated the House’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and coordinating efforts to address shared challenges, most notably the influx of illegal immigrants across the Mediterranean Sea.
For his part, the Greek Foreign Minister stressed his country’s keenness to support the stability and unity of Libya, and to support the just causes of the Libyan people, in addition to the importance of strengthening cooperation at the parliamentary level between the two countries.
