Doha: Qatar has called for restraint and dialogue among parties involved in the situation in Tripoli, Libya. The call came during a phone conversation between UN envoy Hanna Tetteh and Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mohammed Al-Khulaifi, wherein they discussed the recent developments in the Libyan capital.
According to Libyan News Agency, the Qatari Foreign Ministry expressed its close monitoring of the developments in Tripoli over the past few days. The Ministry emphasized the importance of all parties refraining from escalation and encouraged resolving differences through dialogue. It reiterated Qatar’s steadfast position on maintaining Libya’s unity and supporting the aspirations of its people for stability and development.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reaffirmed its full backing for the political process in Libya, the efforts of the United Nations mission, and all peaceful solutions that uphold Libya’s sovereignty.
