Tripoli, President of Presidency Council Mohamed Al Mnefi on Monday met Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio who arrived earlier on a visit to Libya.
Al Mnefi and Di Maio discussed a number of issues including and foremost the forthcoming elections later this year, whereby the two sides agreed on the need to decide upon the legal framework, and the need for the House of Representatives and the High Council of State to reach a consensus on proposals put forward for holding the elections on set time.
Al Mnefi stressed importance of upgrading bilateral exchange between Libya and Italy in the area of trade and investment.
On his part, the Italian Foreign Minister welcomed the opening of the coastal highway, indicating that the fact that his visit came days after the opening event is a gesture of the importance of this step.
He praised the Presidency Council work in all assignments particularly the reconciliation file, and said Italy was prepared to work with the Libyans in the economic and trade areas especially in the southern region.
