Planning min. urges Romanian companies to grasp available investment opportunities in Egypt

Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania El Mashat called on Romanian companies to grasp available investment opportunities in Egypt in the fields of renewable energy, green hydrogen, the localization of industry, capacity-building, communications and information technology.

Mashat made the remarks during the fourth session of the Egyptian-Romanian Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation held in Romanian capital of Bucharest, according to a statement released by the Planning Ministry on Thursday.

The session was co-chaired by Mashat and Romanian Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism ?tefan-Radu Oprea, the statement added.

The two ministers discussed mechanisms for developing the decades-long Egyptian-Romanian relations, amid the economic developments at the regional and international levels, which require concerted efforts to support development in both countries, the statement read.

The pair probed ways of fostering cooperation
in entrepreneurship, where Mashat told the Romanian side that a ministerial group was formed to develop start-ups and create a business environment that is conducive to the growth of this vital sector.

The planning minister underlined the importance of advancing Egyptian-Romanian relations, through holding period meetings of the joint committee that serves as a key tool for pushing forward partnership between the two countries in different fields.

The two ministers also mulled cooperation within the framework of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) to strengthen green transformation efforts and reduce carbon emissions.

On his part, the Romanian minister commended relations with Egypt and the efforts made by the Egyptian State to implement structural reforms that enhance the competitiveness of the country’s economy, and reinforce partnership with the private sector.
