Peter Stano: Operation IRINI does not completely cover Libyan waters.

Brussels, A spokesman for the European External Action Service, Peter Stano, said that Operation IRINI does not completely cover Libyan waters, stressing that its ships patrol a specific area other than the one through which the main migration routes pass.

Stano explained, in press statements reported by the Italian news agency AKI, that Operation IRINI was created first and foremost to enforce the arms embargo on Libya, while combating human traffickers is a secondary objective.
