Passport Authority and Interpol Office to Enhance Security Cooperation

Tripoli: The Passport Authority and the International Criminal Police Office have reached an agreement to bolster security cooperation. The head of the Passports and Nationality Authority held a meeting in Tripoli with the head of the Interpol office, focusing on the regularization of the status of Libyan citizens wanted by foreign security agencies. This discussion took place within the framework of legal procedures that respect citizens' rights and uphold the sovereignty of the state.

According to Libyan News Agency, the coordination meeting, which included several officers from both sides, also explored the development of a more effective mechanism for managing the entry and residency of foreigners in Libya. This initiative will be coordinated with the Interpol office as part of a comprehensive security plan aimed at enhancing oversight and controlling entry and residency processes.

Participants in the meeting emphasized that the collaboration between the Passports Authority and the Interpol office is a crucial step towards establishing an integrated security system. They also expressed their commitment to continuing these meetings to address and overcome any technical and legal challenges that may arise.
